AI Brand Visibility
AI Brand Visibility (also shown as Brand AI during setup) shows how assistants such as OpenAI, Gemini describe, rank, and recommend your brand.
Nitrogen drafts a brand summary, categories, buyer questions, and competitors. You confirm or edit those details, then a report runs in the background. Your live site for real visitors stays the same.
Prerequisite#
- You have a Nitrogen account.
- You have a domain on your account. You can add one during SERA onboarding .
- You can open SERA > AI Brand Visibility, or start Brand AI from Get Started.
What you get#
The report answers questions such as:
- Where you rank for important prompts
- How assistants describe you
- How often you are mentioned versus others
- Who gets recommended instead of you
Metrics include share of voice, recommended score, rank, mentions, citations, and sentiment.
Start from onboarding#
You can turn on Brand AI while you onboard a domain for SERA.
- Open Get Started, then start SERA onboarding for your domain.
- Enable AI Brand Visibility, or click Set up Brand AI after SERA is ready.
- Nitrogen drafts a summary, brand identifiers, questions, and competitors.
- Confirm or edit those details, then click Generate report.
- The first report runs in the background. You can leave and come back.
- When it is ready, open Read your brand report.
You can skip Brand AI during onboarding and set it up later from SERA > AI Brand Visibility. Everything you confirm during onboarding stays editable there.
Start from SERA#
- Select SERA from the top menu.
- Open AI Brand Visibility.
- Enter your brand name. The primary domain is filled from the selected domain.
- Click Discover with AI.
Your journey#
The wizard walks through the steps below. You can go back and edit before you generate the report.
| Step | What happens |
|---|---|
| Profile | Enter the brand name visitors and assistants should associate with you. |
| Summary | Nitrogen analyzes your digital footprint and drafts a brand summary. Review and refine it. |
| Categories | Select or edit the categories and topics used to monitor your brand. |
| Queries | Choose the buyer questions you want assistants asked. Suggested queries are marked. |
| Competitors | Select competitor domains to benchmark against. Use the competitor’s domain, not only their brand name. |
Click Save & Open Dashboard on the competitors step to start the report.
If analysis is still running, the screen shows Building your visibility report. Stay on the page until it finishes, or retry if it cannot complete.
Read your report#
The report has two parts:
- Overall rolls up every tracked query.
- Queries lets you open one question at a time.
Start with Overall, then pick a query from the sidebar. The left panel also shows your brand summary, categories tracked, and competitors tracked.
Across all tracked queries, and again for each AI platform, you can see:
| Metric | What it means |
|---|---|
| Share of Voice | Your share of all brand mentions across the analyzed AI answers. |
| Recommended Score | How strongly the brand is put forward as a suitable choice, not only mentioned. It combines how the assistant endorses you, where you appear in the answer, and whether it cites you. Scored out of 100. |
| Rank | Your position in the order the assistant recommends brands in that answer. |
| Mentions | How often the brand appears by name. |
| Citations | How often the answer links a source that belongs to your domain. Pages the assistant merely read while researching do not count. |
| Sentiment | How the assistant describes the brand where it is mentioned: positive, neutral, or negative. Answers that never mention you are reported as not mentioned, not as neutral. |
Queries where you are not mentioned at all still count. An absent brand is scored as zero rather than skipped, so the numbers show the questions you are missing from.
Platform tabs can include Google Gemini, OpenAI GPT.
For each platform you can also see:
- Your brand insights: where you win, and areas to improve.
- Competitors: share of voice, recommended score, rank, mentions, and sentiment. Expand a competitor for positive and negative insights.
The report can also surface brands that came up in the answers but are not on your tracked list. Use them to decide who to add as a competitor before your next report.
If a query has no analysis yet, select another query or click Edit and generate the report again.
Edit your configuration#
On the report, click Edit to change the brand name, summary, categories, queries, or competitors, then generate a new report.
Click Cancel to discard an in-progress edit and return to the last report.

Notes#
- Brand AI is separate from AI Agents. AI Agents serve processed pages to assistants. Brand Visibility measures how those assistants talk about you.
- Use competitor domains (such as
competitor.com), not brand names alone. - You can skip Brand AI during onboarding and set it up later. Nothing is locked in after the first report.
- Real visitors are not sent through this flow.
